I had a very disappointing Experience. After receiving the book I was unable to download the files from on-line. Last time I purchased the Step by Step books was the 2007 version and it came w/ CD's to download the classes which was awesome. The 2010 version does NOT come with Cd's, you have to down load classes on-line. I tried several times to download the classes and came up with blank files. What's worse, there's no Customer Service phone # where you can talk to someone. The only option you have it to email Customer Service for help. After sending emails back/forth .. I give up. I can't reach a human! I got not where. What are you do? You throw the books away, waste your money, and find find another product that works.
I am not too experienced when it comes to Excel so I bought a book to try and help me in case if I need it for a future job. Great book. IT starts out basic and then continues to go further into explaining and giving you visuals on how the screen should look and what to do or not to do. I really recommend this book if you are starting out. I dont know how it would do for an experienced level person but for beginners and maybe even intermediate level people, its great.
I've used Excel for years, but learned it on the fly. When I saw Excel 2010 was quite a bit different looking, I decided to get this book, and I'm glad I did. You can go from page one, or just pick the lessons you need, and you'll soon be an Excel expert. Highly recommended, and the book was in excellent condition. The only reason I didn't give it five stars was that it arrived several days later than was promised. Otherwise, good value.

I find that Microsoft Excel 2010 Step by step is an exceptional reference because the paperback makes available at no charge by going to the Website specified within the book the book in PDF format, which makes searching for an item very easy and also facilitates the printing of pages when necessary; but also available are well thought-out excises which facilitate learning. The paperback version is great when I am using my computer glasses to go back and fourth between the book and the screen or when I am in another area of the home researching to find what I am seeking in this reference. I also use anther Microsoft reference in conjunction with this and that would be Microsoft Excel 2010 Inside Out. It is similarly configured but more in depth. I am definitely pleased to own both because my learning is most assuredly facilitated. Because of the complexity of the material the coverage afforded by TWO Microsoft publications is necessary. I have purchased Microsoft Step by Step publications for most modules of Office 2010 because of the treatment with no charge accompanying PDF and exercises My other favorite references for Office 2010 would be the "Missing Manual" series from O'Reilly publishers. I always buy from AMAZON
The wife kept bugging me about how to use Excel 2010, how to color cells, etc. I don't have the time to stop everything that I am working on to help her so I got her this book to aid her in the programs usage. She absolutely loves it. So do I pertaining to the fact she doesn't have to ask me about it anymore. She said it has helped her a lot.
Haven't been able to use as yet because the lessons won't download on my computer. I'm supposed to contact my internet provider for guidance, and have not done so as yet. Once I solve this dilemma, I expect to be happy with the book. I'll update the review once I have some experience. Update: Duh, finally figured out the lessons; now it's everything I hoped for.
Some of the other reviews commented that the book is more for experienced users than those who don't have the higher level of experience. I agree. I was looking for a beginners book and have had success using the "Step by Step" series but this one was and should be rated at for experienced users only.
