Athena du Pré is a Distinguished University Professor at the University of West Florida, where she directs graduate programs in Strategic Communication & Leadership and Health Communication Leadership. She is the author or coauthor of numerous books, including Communicating About Health: Current Issues and Perspectives (5th ed.), Understanding Human Communication (12th edition, coauthored by Ron Alder and George Rodman), and Essential Communication (coauthored by Adler and Rodman). Since joining the UWF faculty, she has twice been honored by the student body with an annual Distinguished Teaching Award.

The best textbook in the field of health communication. Although it's written for undergrads, even my grad students find it insightful. I do wish the 5th edition did have the more complete discussion of Jay Baglia's work on Viagra adds, as the 4th edition did, however. Really excellent.
This book is great if you are needing to learn about the different aspects of communication in healthcare plus it gives you resources to different healthcare organizations you can join and a plethora of career paths to take. This book is also highly relatable to the actual REAL WORLD, in other words, you can apply the concepts that you learn in this book into the real life settings especially the workplace.
Rented this as a course requirement for a communications class. I was expecting it to be boring, but honestly there is so much great content. The book looked brand new and was all around awesome.
Great condition.
When I read the description for the condition of the book it stated that it was very good quality. However, they didn't mention that there were some stains on the side, rental sticker on the front and sticky back cover. I wish this had been mentioned because I otherwise would have gotten a cheaper book. Not worth 54 dollars
This is a pretty good book. I learned a lot from the information contained within and things were explained in a very easy to understand format. I would recommend this book.
Used it for my class. Very interesting material and good read.
